A Father-Son Writing Team
RUSSELL & DAMIEN SILVA
Extra Ordinary is a father-son collaboration between filmmaker and screenwriter Russell Silva and his twelve-year-old son, Damien, an avid reader and aspiring writer.
The story began years earlier with a short story Damien and friends worked on in elementary school about a boy with an unusual power. What started as a childhood idea became a father-son summer writing project, and eventually grew into a feature-length animated adventure about grief, family, connection, and learning when to hold on and when to let go.
Russell brings more than 20 years of experience as a director and cinematographer, along with five feature screenplays and recognition from numerous screenwriting competitions and festivals. Damien brings the imagination, humor, and perspective of a kid the same age as the film’s heroes.
Together, they set out to tell a big, funny, visually imaginative adventure grounded in something deeply human: big feelings aren't problems to solve. Sometimes they simply need to be understood, shared, and carried forward.
